'ME
AND MY GIRL'  The
Border Studio Set design for this musical combines innovation in the use
of hard static set and painted backcloths. The main plot of this musicals centre around family life in a country mansion called Hareford Hall. To this end we have built the set as a partial revolve which consists of three main panels fixed between four columns which have header pieces and are permanently attached to a raised plinth which gives added dimension to the overall look of the set. One side of the panel is painted to represent the exterior look of a large Country Mansion House. The exterior façade consist of two tall window s and a set of large double doors with added architecture of the period. The inside façade gives the appearance of a lavish interior salon with heavy velvet drapes and fixings. In essence the partial revolve of the three panels allows for creative use of the cast to effect a seamless transition from outside to inside and visa versa. The other major scenes are then played in front of the fixed main this being achieved by the use of period painted backcloths and gauzes and again complemented with some additional hard scenery. The set is further enhanced with the inclusion of a selection of period props and furniture for each of the major settings. |
